OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the authority of the director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Central America, Mexico and Colombia and under the direct supervision of the director or a programme specialist designated by the director, the incumbent will provide programme and administrative support to the implementation of the Communication and Information programme of UNESCO in the region under the office’s responsibility. Key topics of the programme in the region include safety of journalists, combatting disinformation, documentary heritage, access to information.

The incumbent is expected to carry out the following tasks:
•    Assist in the organization of activities, initiatives and events of the Communication and Information programme.
•    Assist in the drafting of concept notes, speeches, briefings and reports.
•    Assist in the communication with counterparts, partners and others during programme implementation.
•    Assist in follow up to meetings and events organized.
•    Provide other assistance as required.

The contract is expected to be signed for a duration of 8 months. Extension is subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funds.

REMUNERATION

Level 2. Grade SC4 Step 1. Monthly Salary: CRC 566, 665.00

Up to 10% shall be added to the Contract Holder’s remuneration each pay cycle to represent UNESCO’s sole contribution for pension, and up to 5% shall be added for contributions to medical insurance upon proof of enrolment in an appropriate pension and/or medical private scheme.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCACION.

Minimum completed secondary education.

EXPERIENCIA PROFESIONAL

Minimum three years of professional experience.

HABILIDADES Y COMPETENCIAS.

•    Very good organizational and coordination skills.
•    Very good teamwork skills and skills to work in a multicultural team.
•    Ability to prioritize and to work with tight deadlines.
•    Good communication skills.

IDIOMAS

Excellent knowledge of Spanish and good knowledge of English.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCACION.

Any certificate or training related to the mandate of the UNESCO Communication and Information programme.

EXPERIENCIA PROFESIONAL

Experience with activities related to the UNESCO Communication and Information programme is a strong asset.

IDIOMAS

Knowledge of another official language of UNESCO.
