OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

The UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is UNESCO’s first education-related category 1 institute in the Asia and the Pacific region towards the development and promotion of new approaches to education for a more peaceful and sustainable world. The Institute is a globally regarded centre of excellence for research and implementation of socio-emotional learning (SEL) through innovative digital pedagogies empowered by Artificial Intelligence.

Long Description

Under the overall authority of the Director and direct supervision of the National Information Technology Officer of the Institute (NITO), the incumbent will serve as “Associate National Project Officer (ICT) and will be responsible for the following duties

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

(1) Technical Course Administration:

  • Ensure accurate and efficient management of technological aspects related to course administration on FramerSpace (UNESCO MGIEP’s in-house developed learning experience platform).
  • Maintain certificate configurations, cohort configurations, and other technological administrative tasks for FramerSpace courses.

Long Description

 (2) Coordination with FramerSpace Support Team

  • Act as a focal point for communication between the FramerSpace support team and FramerSpace development team.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and user support.

 

(3) Liaison with Program Team

  • Collaborate with program teams to understand course requirements and ensure effective integration of FramerSpace features.
  • Track bugs and new feature requests from program teams, providing regular updates.

 

(4) Monitoring and Course Enhancement

  • Regularly monitor courses on FramerSpace and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with course creators and moderators to integrate new technology affordances into FramerSpace courses.

Long Description

(5) Administration of Training Programs

  • Ensure that the tutorials on FramerSpace know-hows are up-to-date.
  • Coordinate and administer training programs for FramerSpace users, both within and outside UNESCO MGIEP.
  • Provide guidance on the affordances and features of FramerSpace to FramerSpace users.

 

(6) Engagement with External Software Vendors

  • Communicate with external software vendors responsible for developing and maintaining FramerSpace features.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new features and ensure seamless integration.

Short Description

(7) Software and License Management

  • Ensure all software licenses within UNESCO MGIEP are up-to-date for optimal IT processes.
  • Collaborate with relevant officers to manage software procurement and licensing.

 

(8) Any other related task as assigned by the supervisor/ Director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education Qualification: Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, educational technology, computer science, or a related discipline.

 

Work Experience:  Minimum two years’ experience in working with educators in delivering online and in-person education programmes and/or working with education and/or other social sectors, and/or ministries in government.

 

Position-Related Skills and Competencies:

  • Competence and familiarity with digital learning design.
  • Substantial experience in information and communication technology.
  • Good knowledge of programme and project related to IT in Education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Global teamwork experience and ability to work in multicultural environments.
  • The ability to multi-task, deal with ambiguity, and cope with rapidly changing and pressurized circumstances

 

Languages: Very good knowledge (written and spoken) of English.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Ph.D. in education, educational technology, information technology, or related discipline.

Work Experience

  • Professional experience within an international environment/United Nations Agency and experience working in a multidisciplinary team will be an asset.

 Languages

  • Working knowledge of other UNESCO Official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, and Russian).

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits, which may include, if applicable: 30 days annual leave, reimbursement of medical insurance (up to 5% of base salary), pension plan (up to 10% of base salary), etc. The annual base salary of NOA R1 is INR 1,405,397 (Negotiable).
