OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

The incumbent shall work under the direct supervision of the Head of Education, and under the authority of the Head of Field Office UNESCO Dhaka and will coordinate production of external communications for UNESCO Dhaka including social and digital media, web, public relations, branding and publications. The person will write creative and engaging contents in both Bangla and English, monitor media trends and emerging topics, and support the implementation of the UNESCO Dhaka Partnership Strategy.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation of office publication material, such as brochures, press kits, articles, web stories, press releases, e-Newsletter and reports, as and when required;  
  • Produce advocacy and communication materials (e.g. images, videos, Facebook posts, tweets, photo galleries, social media packages, etc.), resource mobilization materials. greeting cards, souvenirs, project specific and general branding materials  in accordance with UNESCO standards and guidelines;
  • Regularly update content on the official website and social media platforms.
  • Generate and/or edit UNESCO news content in text as well as multimedia formats, for dissemination on various platforms;
  • Develop and maintain social media and website content calendars in close consultation with the programme units;
  • Maintain contacts with media representatives and others to promote the activities of the organization. Ensure that responses to direct or indirect requests for information about the work of the organization promote better understanding of its objectives and activities;
  • Develop and implement digital media campaigns in alignment with the overarching priorities of UNESCO and tailored to individual project needs;
  • Promote and track UNESCO Dhaka brand and the work of the organization through social media networks (including future networks that may emerge on digital platforms), and provide more information as and when required;
  • Enhance the digital footprint of the office by ensuring regular content creation by the programme units, media monitoring and partnership building;

Long Description

  • Keep abreast of innovation and trends in social media and provide alternative strategies to leverage and measure the impact of social media activity;
  • Develop and nurture close, collaborative working relationships with colleagues (researchers, media, experts etc.) internally and externally to promote and embed the work of Office;
  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by supervisor and Head of Field Office of UNESCO Dhaka;
  • Work as the primary photographer/videographer and photo/video editor of UNESCO Bangladesh;
  • Oversee the implementation of the UNESCO Partnership Strategy, CPE team’s work plan, including the supervision of junior staff such as the graphic designer and advocacy officer.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple tasks and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent IT skills – particularly knowledge and experience of working in designing (Canva, Indesign) and video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro) software. 
  • Experience in photography and videography

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mass communication, journalism, public relations or in any other related field.

 

Work Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience.  Previous experience in international development bodies would be considered as an asset.

 

Languages: 

  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English and Bangla.

Duration of Contract:

The contract shall be initially for six months (with two months probationary period) with option for renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds
