OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall authority of Director/Head of Office and the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer, the incumbent provides Informatics and Technological services in compliance with the UNESCO rules and regulations, practices, standards, and procedures.

Long Description

MAIN TASK AND SERVICES.

  • In close collaboration with the Bureau of Digital Business Solutions, s/he will ensure ICT related needs such as, support management and operations of all ICT infrastructure, equipment, and services, are met in the Office.
  • Guarantee that ICT-delivered services and end-user needs are understood and met. 
  • Foresee ICT configuration changes and make sure that activities are carried out according to established ICT standards and policies.
  • Provide user support and technical/functional specialist support to the office. 
  • Assist users in solving technical problems and investigate elevated issues by confirming the validity of the problem and seeking for known solutions related to these more complex issues. If a problem is new and/or s/he cannot determine a solution, s/he will be responsible for raising the issue to DBS support and/or the local external service provider.
  • Implement the rollout of new functionalities, applications or services, systems upgrades and IT infrastructure changes under the coordination of DBS.
  • Provide follow up on the installation of systems, network components and software and advise on best technical solutions, in coordination with DBS to achieve required standards while taking into consideration local technical constraints. 
     

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This contract will be for 6 months, tentatively from 01/06/2024 to 31/12/2024.
At the discretion of the Director of the Office, the contract may be extended, based on operational needs, satisfactory performance and availability of sufficient funds, for periods of up to and including 12 consecutive months.
 

REMUNERATION

Level 2. Grade SC4 Step 1. Monthly Salary: CRC 566, 665.00

Up to 10% shall be added to the Contract Holder’s remuneration each pay cycle to represent UNESCO’s sole contribution for pension, and up to 5% shall be added for contributions to medical insurance upon proof of enrolment in an appropriate pension and/or medical private scheme.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION 

  • Completed secondary, technical diploma and/or vocational school. 

WORK EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in similar post.

FUNCTIONAL JOB RELATED SKILLS 

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.  
  • Client oriented and problem solving attitude. 
  • Flexibility to adjust to different working schedules and priorities.

LANGUAGES 

  • Excellent knowledge (spoken and written) of Spanish and good knowledge of English

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION 

  • Certificate in computer science, systems or related careers 

WORK EXPERIENCE 

  • Previous experience in an UN agency in similar post.
