OVERVIEW
Within the framework of the UNESCO and the Italian Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the UNESCO “World Water Assessment Programme – WWAP”, under the overall supervision of the UNESCO WWAP Coordinator and reporting directly to the Programme Specialist, the Video and Graphic Designer will perform the following duties:
ASSIGNMENTS
Design and layout of the United Nations World Water Development Reports (UN WWDR)
UN WWDR 2026 (approx. 200 Pages):
- Prepare and revise the layout proofs of the Spanish version of the UN WWDR 2026 based on the existing template.
- Finalize the print-ready file incorporating comments from WWAP and partners.
UN WWDR 2027 (approx. 200 pages):
- Develop initial internal design proposals for the UN WWDR 2027 in line with the report cover, WWAP’s visual identity and strategic goals.
- Prepare layout proofs and finalize the print-ready file of:
- Main report (English and French versions; approx. 200 pages each)
- Executive Summary and Facts & Figures (English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese; approx. 12–20 pages each)
- Redraw and vectorize figures and tables for clarity and publication-readiness.
- Create and deliver source layout templates (InDesign files or equivalent) to enable translations and adaptations.
Long Description
Design and layout of other UNESCO WWAP publications
- Design and layout of the publication “Evaluación de los ecosistemas acuáticos con perspectiva de inclusión social e igualdad en la cuenca del río Amazonas”(approx. 200 pages):
- Visual concepts, layout proofs, and finalized version.
- Design and layout of the publication “Educación Hídrica – Guía para la formación de líderes del agua en América Latina y el Caribe” (approx. 100 pages):
- Visual concepts, layout proofs, and finalized versions.
Preparation of outreach and communication materials
- UN WWDR launches

- Produce a short video trailer for the UN WWDR 2027
- Design and layout of PowerPoint slide decks for WWDR 2027 launch events and key advocacy activities.
- Prepare email campaigns (e.g. Mailchimp)
- Preparation of social media assets (cards, banners, animated snippets) to promote reports and milestones.
- Layout of event flyers, digital invitations, and e-banners for use in:
- Thematic or regional workshops and UN WWDRs inspired Capacity building events
- WWAP’s Multi-stakeholder Coalition events
- Production of infographics and data visualizations to communicate key findings and statistics from WWAP reports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- A university degree in visual arts, communication, or a related field is required.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in video and graphic design.
Long Description
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and After Effects.
- Competence in video and audio editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Logic Pro, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in designing print and web materials, as well as in video editing and motion design.
- Solid command of the English language is required.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Computer skills such as ability to use Mac and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suit,
- Familiarity with the design and visual standards of the United Nations World Water Development Report series or similar UN publications will be desirable.
- Familiarity with the UN‐System will be an asset.
