OVERVIEW

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Section of the Management of Social Transformations Section (MOST) and working closely with and under the day-to-day guidance of the Associate Project Officer of the Section, the individual consultant will provide communication, knowledge management and learning support in the framework of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Programme for the Arabic Language.

 

ASSIGNMENTS

In particular the incumbent shall: 

Long Description

  • Implement the Programme’s communication strategy, including drafting and coordinating web stories, newsletters, social media content and key messaging related to programme activities and milestones, and maintaining updated communication calendars and content.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Programme’s webpage by publishing news, web stories, events, publications and publication list, multimedia content, and announcements, in English and Arabic; ensuring that all information is accurate, up to date, accessible, and aligned with UNESCO’s editorial, branding, and web publishing standards.
  • Maintain and organize the Programme’s digital repository of publications, photographs, videos and communication assets, ensuring proper archiving and accessibility, including in Arabic.
  • Identify and document success stories, lessons learned and beneficiary testimonials for communication and knowledge-sharing purposes.
  • Monitor and compile communication analytics, preparing periodic reports on the reach and impact of the Programme’s communication activities.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of Arabic language courses for beginners, in close collaboration with relevant HR sections, including curriculum adaptation, learning materials and monitoring of course delivery; organize relevant certificate award ceremonies.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of other learning and capacity-building activities under the Programme.
  • Provide translation, linguistic review and editorial services from English to Arabic for briefings, narrative reports, project proposals, meeting documents and presentations, ensuring consistency with UNESCO editorial standards and programme terminology.

CONTRACT DURATION

The contract duration is of 11 months.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

First-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Languages, Arabic Studies, International Relations, Human Resource management, or another relevant field.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, editorial work, digital content management, human resources or curriculum development or public information.
  • Experience managing website content using content management systems.
  • Experience drafting, editing and proofreading high-quality written materials in professional Arabic.
  • Experience supporting multilingual communication activities.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in Learning and Development, including the coordination and delivery of learning or training programmes.
  • Experience coordinating language-learning programmes, including teacher/instructor selection, course delivery, learning materials and participant follow-up.
  • Experience in Human Resources, particularly learning and development, and training would be an asset.

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills in Arabic.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills for monitoring communication performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with web publishing and social media management.

LANGUAGES

  • Excellent command of Modern Standard Arabic, both oral and written.
  • Excellent command of English.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Additional professional training or certification in Human Resources Management, Learning and Development, training or other related fields would be an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar design software.
  • Experience in Human Resources within UNESCO, another United Nations organization or an international organization, particularly in Learning and Development, training or staff development.
  • Good knowledge of Learning and Development principles and practices, including the coordination of learning and training activities involving instructors, participants and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with website analytics tools (Google Analytics, Matomo, etc.).
  • Experience producing newsletters and email campaigns.
  • Knowledge of UNESCO’s communication and editorial guidelines.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to coordinate learning and training activities involving instructors, participants and multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and other digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to support the development and adaptation of learning and training materials.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate learning and capacity-building activities.


LANGUAGES

Good knowledge of French would be an asset.
