OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Under the overall delegated authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Egypt and Sudan/Liaison Office with the League of Arab States, and direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Culture at the UNESCO Regional Office, the incumbent is responsible for providing professional and technical assistance for the management and coordination of the culture programme and projects with voluntary contributions and partnerships
Long Description
The incumbent will carry out the following responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance in the conceptualization, planning, management, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the culture programme and projects in heritage and creativity for sustainable development. This includes, among others, undertaking result-based planning/management, preparing technically and financially sound work plans and procurement plans, developing implementation strategies, preparing materials and documentation for procurement processes, coordinating projects’ activities, ensuring quality control of deliverables and their compliance with contracts’ terms and regulations, preparing briefs and reports, organizing working and review meetings with donors, and ensuring monitoring and evaluation of outcomes and results;
- Build and sustain working partnerships with projects’ implementation partners and other relevant government institutions to ensure effective implementation of the culture projects;

- Ensure knowledge management of data, information, technical documents and other materials generated through the culture projects;
- Undertake communication and information activities for the projects by preparing promotional materials, drafting web articles and creating engaging content for social media to promote the projects’ activities and outcomes and enhance the visibility of UNESCO;
- Contribute to partnership building and resource mobilization for the culture programme by analyzing and identifying needs and priorities and exploring potential partnerships and collaboration opportunities with current and potential partners. This also includes assisting in the development of concept notes and project proposals for bilateral and multilateral partners, international institutions/foundations, and other potential donors;

- Contribute to UNDPF implementation by integrating consideration of culture into other sectoral strategies and plans for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Carry out additional activities that may be required for the culture programme and the Office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
MA degree in cultural heritage management, architecture, archaeology, museology and other related fields to cultural heritage.
Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in managing and coordinating projects in the field of cultural heritage and museums
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to interact with a wide range of partners and government officials;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Good organizational and coordination skills;
- Ability to work as part of a multicultural team;
- Ability to take initiative and provide quality and timely support and services;
- Proven computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Data base systems, Outlook, etc.).
Languages
- Excellent knowledge (oral and written) of Arabic and English.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in preservation/restoration of heritage sites and conservation of artifacts.
- Experience in procurement of services and materials for heritage sites and museum management.
- At least 1-year of professional experience at the UN agencies in Egypt.
- Knowledge of other UNESCO official languages (Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS
This assignment is a full-time nature under UNESCO Service Contract Modality at the level of SC9 and will follow the official working hours of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, Egypt. Appointment to this post is subject to medical clearance. In addition to the monthly salary equivalent to the level, UNESCO will contribute to the pension fund and medical insurance in line with the provisions of UNESCO HR Manual for a Service Contract holder.
